PSA Certified 2021 Security Report

Bridging the IoT Security Gap

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) has facilitated incredible opportunities for the digital transformation of goods and services. However, as the number of global connections scales and we see the world embracing digital transformation across multiple sectors, we also see a rise in cyber security threats.

The PSA Certified 2021 Security Report surveyed over 600 tech decision-makers to gather an accurate pulse point on the state of IoT security. In the report, we found a gap between perceptions of IoT security and the reality, where 61% of tech decision-makers say they're on track with security, but only 47% were carrying out a threat analysis in the design of every new product, highlighting how key security functions are being skipped.

The report highlighted that key IoT security challenges remain including the additional cost, a lack of expertise and regulatory fragmentation. In series 1 of the #beyondthenow IoT security podcast we examined these challenges with industry leaders to discover how we can collaborate on the solutions and secure the future of the IoT.

0%

of tech decision-makers consider the additional cost of security to be a top barrier to improving it.
